Personal branding is the process of creating a brand identity for a person/company. It is how you project your brand & its values to the world & ensure that your target audience knows who you are, what you stand for, and why it’s worth choosing you.

In an era where people’s attention spans are getting shorter by the minute, the need to make an impression is more important than ever. And the best way to do this is by creating a solid and memorable brand identity.

RELEVANT & USEFUL CONTENT
Don’t post for the sake of posting. Your tweets should have a purpose. “Useful” content is very vague as this depends on your audience. Make your content fun and engaging to your audience and to the audience you are trying to expand into.
VISUAL AIDS
Tweets using visual aids: images, videos and gifs tend to receive more engagement. Use these to your advantage. amidst your daily tweets, use a meme, picture or video to grab the attention of people scrolling through the timeline. More eyes = more engagement.
CONSISTENCY
With 500 million tweets going out daily on average, a single tweet per day will be buried by the sure volume of content. Posting consistently (4-8 times a day) with different types of engaging content is imperative. Don’t stick to just one type of content.
MUTUAL INTERACTION
USE TIME CONSTRUCTIVELY. DON’T JUST SCROLL. You need to engage with your audience and other people on the platform. To get engagement you need to give. Craft thoughtful responses to your audience, thus creating genuine connections.
BRAND
CREATE YOUR PERSONAL BRAND. Make your account noticeable and easy to remember. Don’t change things: choose a profile picture, Name, Handle etc and stick to it. This is your identity on the platform and how people distinguish you from others. BRANDING IS POWER!
TRENDS & RELEVANCY
Talk about trending topics or relevant events within your niche. Give your opinion on matters Trending topics can be a goldmine of engagement if used correctly. The earlier you jump on trends with your own creative spin, the better the result.
COMMUNITY
Find your tribe/niche. This will be where the bulk of your growth stems from. Finding a community/Topic or industry to get into is imperative. Your community is your network, get to know the people in it. But don’t be afraid to branch out into new communities.
GROUP CHATS
Create or join different group chats. This is a great way to engage with people outside of the timeline. Curating and building upon connections that you have made. These are also an easy way to expand your network ie find new people to follow and interact with.
LISTS
Creating twitter lists containing different people from various parts of your community is a quick and easy method that will aid you in engaging with people you want to engage with. Break it down into micro lists of different levels of engagement. CURATE lists.
PEAK TIMES
Find your peak engagement times and post within them. When your audience/following are most active. Stay consistent in these times and you will see positive results. Subconsciously your audience will come to expect tweets from you within those peak times.
SCHEDULE
Use @TweetDeck to schedule tweets beforehand. Take time to curate tweets and schedule them to post during your peak engagement times. SET IT AND FORGET IT!
This frees up your time to actively engage with others. Use the tools you have to your advantage.
INDUSTRY LEADERS
Make a list of major influencers in your niche, follow and engage with them daily. Interacting with them allows their followers to see you and potentially follow. Expand your network and following.
TWITTER SPACES
Twitter spaces are a great way to network & to create meaningful connections with your community. Find spaces within your niche, listen in and when the time comes to speak on a matter... DO IT.
PROFILE
Profile Optimization is vital. Choosing the right handle that will be easily remembered and written out. Your profile picture and banner are two things that stand out when someone visits your page (choose them wisely) - use these to further your overall brand.
HASHTAGS
Yes #hashtags Don’t drown your tweets in hashtags as this will negatively affect your engagement. Find 2-3 keyword based hashtags that are relevant to your post & audience, as this can garner more visibility and thus more engagement leading to more followers.
COMPETITORS
Leverage tweets or content that are working for others with your own unique twist. Things that work for others have a high chance of working for YOU. Keep an eye on people who are succeeding, replicate and make it your own. IRON SHARPENS IRON!
PIVOT
If a tactic/method is not working for you, don’t be afraid to switch it. This space changes fast & things will not stay the same. SO YOU SHOULDN’T EITHER. TRY NEW THINGS, experiment with different executions & approaches. You have to adapt to stay relevant.
